My Style Diary - White Dress and a Wardrobe Ramble

Hello Hello! :)

A couple of weeks ago it was my youngest sister's Year 12 ball, and because our Uncle happens to be a professional photographer, he came round to take photos of everyone. The girls all looked so stunning and it was so nice seeing them all dressed up and excited to be heading off to their ball!

Once everyone else had left, Uncle Ron was kind enough to take a few photos of me for my blog, so a big thank you to him for these photos!

I had lots of fun helping Bella to get ready, but of course it ended up being a bit of a rush!
We wanted to have some family photos before all of Bella's friends arrived, and because I was doing her makeup and fussing over her (it was her night!), I ended up having about 5 minutes to get ready myself.

This white dress paired with a tan belt and chunky heels was what I ended up throwing together at the last minute and I really like how it turned out.
You probably know by now that I have a thing for white dresses in floaty fabrics so this has had a lot of love since it was added to my collection.

I really should have learnt by now that I need to plan ahead with my outfits for situations when I know I'm going to be strapped for time, but it seems I like the last minute approach. That's why I'm working on organising my wardrobe so it's full of pieces that are effortlessly beautiful, easy to throw on, and versatile enough to be styled in different ways.
At the start of the year I began a bit of a "wardrobe rehab" project that involved a lot of clearing out, and has lead me to be much more selective when it comes to choosing what comes home with me (unless it fit's the description above, it goes back on the rack). I'm actually feeling quite proud of myself because I haven't bought a single new clothing item since December and have really been focusing on appreciating what I already have and finding new ways to wear things.

It's still a work in progress, (that requires a lot more clearing and the filling of a few holes here and there), but we're getting there - and I seem to have successfully curbed my shopping addiction!
I'm planning on writing more about this at some stage, so let me know if you're interested in reading about my little "Wardrobe Rehab" project!
(the idea of which was inspired by Geneva from A Pair & A Spare

Anyway, that's enough rambling for now :)
Have a great day!

My Style Diary - Valentine's Day

Hello! :)

I said in my last post that I'm not really that into Valentine's day... while that is true, when it comes to having a theme for the day and dressing accordingly - I'm all for it!

I love any excuse to wear pink, and this year I thought I'd take the whole "dressing up for Valentine's day" a step further and bring out this love heart printed shirt. I'll admit I've been hanging out to wear this on Valentine's day since I bought it last year, so finally I had my chance!

I did contemplate layering it over a white dress  and wearing heels for a super cute, girlie outfit, but that ended up being just a little too cheesy for me to handle, so instead I went with my usual failsafe of shorts and sandals. A very simple, casual outfit (as my outfits always end up being!) that embraced the Valentine's day theme but wasn't too over the top - just perfect for a relaxed Saturday that included an amazing breakfast, strolling around the shops and catching up with friends.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's day and weekend in general!
Did any of you get up to anything special?

My Style Diary - Floral Playsuit Fun

Good Morning!

Happy Valentine's Day! :)
To be honest, I've never been too fussed about Valentine's day, but it is a nice reminder to show that little extra love to the special person (and people) in your life, (not that we should really need it!), as well as being a great excuse to have a bit of fun getting dressed up for the occasion!

Tom and I don't have any particular plans, but I think we might head out to get some breakfast soon, so that will be out "Valentine's day date" :)

This outfit would actually be perfect if you had a special dinner planned. I love this playsuit that I picked up in Topshop last year as the fabric is so beautiful - the colours and floral pattern are very "me", and the open back with lace detailing makes it really unique. With playsuits you can get away with a slightly shorter length than you normally could with a dress (with no fear of the wind blowing your skirt up), perfect for shorter girls like myself!

I hope you're having a great Saturday!

January in Pictures

  Time for another round up of all the best bits of January, some of which included;
Bonding time with Osgood (my sister's love bird) while the rest of the family was away, catching up with some of my best friends, keeping cool in the heat by eating way to much ice-cream and taking a fun trip down south.

Yup - it was a good month, and looking back at these photos makes me feel so lucky :)

I hope you had a fabulous January and that February is even better!

My Style Diary - Floral Printed Shorts

Hello Hello!

It's Friday night! Yay! :)
... I actually have work tomorrow (but can't complain too much - I've had today off), so I'm having a nice quiet night in.

I've spent the afternoon helping my littlest sister get ready for her Year 12 ball, which is very exciting but also makes me feel very old!
A bunch of her friends came over for Before's and they all looked so beautiful all dressed up.
I'm feeling quite nostalgic at the moment - it's hard to believe it's been seven years since I was heading off to the ball with my friends...

Anyway... this outfit was from last weekend. Can you tell by now I like shorts? I feel so much more comfortable in them than I do in skirts. I would love to be able to wear skirts more often but whenever I do I feel so constricted and just a bit too self conscious, so shorts are my go to most of the time. To mix it up a bit though I pulled out these patterned ones that I picked up in Malaysia last year but for some reason hadn't worn yet (clearly I have too many clothes). I love the muted colours and abstract sort of floral pattern - it's a bit of a change from my usual denim shorts.

That's it from me for now - Happy Friday night!

My Style Diary - At The Lighthouse

Some of my favourite blogs to read have such stunning outfit photos, with amazing backdrops of beautiful natural landscapes, exciting city locations, fun colourful doors or other interesting settings (all of which also happen to look just perfect with their outfit).

Two blogs that immediately spring to mind are What Olivia Did and WishWishWish
They're such an inspiration to me and I would love if my blog could one day be even half as beautiful.

When Tom and I made our way up to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a few outfit shots in front of the bright red door. There's something about having a different location that makes outfit photos so much more fun and interesting.
I really need to start venturing out more and finding new, different locations to take photos, but first I need to get over worrying about people watching me!
Any bloggers out there that have any tips for me? I know I just shouldn't care about it, but it's easier said than done!

I hope you're having a lovely Thursday!

The Weekend Post: The Bakery, Breweries and Visiting a Lighthouse

Hello!

Today I have another set of photos from our little trip down south to share with you.

We had a lovely start to our  Saturday with breakfast at The Margaret River Bakery, which is my absolute favourite place to visit when I'm down there. It is such a cute little place with great atmosphere - old chairs and sofas on the veranda, photos, artwork and plates covering the walls and quirky mismatched mugs and tea cups. Not to mention the best tasting food!

My drink of choice is usually tea which is always presented so beautifully in one of their many adorable little tea pots. This time though, I had a chai latte (which was soo good), and avocado and feta on sourdough toast with cherry tomato salsa. Such a simple dish but it was done so well and is truly one of the best breakfasts I have ever had.
Tom had the banana and honeycomb pancakes which were also seriously amazing!

After breakfast we decided to explore somewhere different, so after a bit of a drive we ended up at Cape Naturaliste and had a nice walk up to the Lighthouse. The view from there is so beautiful, but it was extremely windy so we didn't hang around for too long. Tom did snap a few photos for me though so you can expect an outfit post coming up soon!

Tom loves his beer so next it was on to the breweries (I'm not a beer drinker, so was happy to play the designated driver for the afternoon).

We stopped in at the Eagle Bay Brewery where Tom enjoyed the beer tasting plate and I cringed and pulled funny faces when he convinced me to take a sip (nope - beer is just not my thing).
I did however like the chalk board out the front - "I'm not addicted to beer, we're just in a committed relationship" -very applicable to Tom!

Then, after driving around and stopping off at a few other random spots, we headed to the Bush Shack Brewery which had a really nice, laid back feel, and spent a lovely afternoon just relaxing there.

After a very fun but quite busy day, we headed back, cooked Spaghetti Carbonara for dinner and spent the night watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which has now been added to my list of favourite movies - partly because it has Emma Watson in it and partly because it was just an awesome movie).

All in all it was a pretty perfect weekend away :)
Now I'm just daydreaming about the next one!

Hope you're having a great night

Lots of Love
